NHS 10 Year Plan - Arthritis Action

NHS 10 Year Plan

4 July 2025

Yesterday, the UK Government launched the long-awaited 10 Year Health Plan for England: fit for the future, outlining three radical shifts in reinventing the National Health Service:

  • from hospital to community
  • analogue to digital
  • sickness to prevention

Arthritis Action welcomes the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan with its ambitions to provide better patient care, choice and focus on community delivery and preventative health. We are pleased to see a shift to thinking about long-term strategies for healthcare, and reducing widening health inequalities affecting those in need.

Yet, there is a lot more to be done to ensure that the NHS reforms don’t forget about the 20 million people with arthritis and musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions in the UK. As the leading cause of disability, we urge the Government to recognise MSK as a priority area of focus. We want to see improvements on waiting times and faster access to care, increased funding to support community services offering self-management, more personalisation, and a joined up holistic view of health and social care.

We believe that addressing these needs can significantly improve the quality of life and independence for a vast number of people, as well as contribute to the economic prosperity of the country.
