Supporting strategic leaders with high quality advice and advocacy, Active Dorset aims to establish Dorset as a place where people choose to enjoy an active lifestyle through participation in sport and physical activity to transform lives. A wide range of programmes are already running throughout the county which aim to increase participation and support is offered to help the work of clubs, coaches, volunteers, educators and facilities. There is an Activity Finder on the website as well as a webpage entitled Dorset Active Ageing Project which may be of interest.

A not for profit organisation providing a variety of services for older people living in Sturminster Newton and surrounding villages. A local not-for-profit organisation helping older people (55+) in Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset to live happy, healthy, and independent lives. They provide services, activities and events, including the Better Balance Class designed to help reduce the risk of a fall which could lead to injury for older people. Walking for Health

Led by Volunteer Walk Leaders throughout East Dorset, Health Walks are free to attend (no need to book just turn up) and run weekly to help you establish a routine and are ideal for beginners. A great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and meet new people, so have a look to see if there is a walk near you!

Walking for Health

Established to create new opportunities for people to benefit from group walking, get active and meet new people. Linked to local GP practices, community hospitals and children’s centres, all walks are free and led by a trained Walk Leaders. There’s no need to book, just turn up a few minutes before the walk starts and you’ll find a warm welcome … whatever the weather!

Free, friendly and welcoming health walks to suit a range of abilities. From gentle 15 minute walks to walks lasting 30 minutes or brisk 45 minutes walks, all are led by trained Volunteer Walk Leaders to make sure you have an enjoyable time.
