A Lottery-funded charity supporting organisations across the nine districts of South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. It is one of 43 Active Partnerships across England who work with partners to create the conditions for an active nation, using the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives. Over a quarter of the population are inactive, so as a charity, Yorkshire Sport Foundation works closely with partners to help individuals and communities overcome barriers and build healthy habits for life. They connect, influence and provide support for sport and physical activity, increasing and improving the many ways people can take part and get active. Ramblers Wellbeing Walks

Free, guided wellbeing walks organised in and around Leeds, offer a great opportunity for local people to get outdoors, get active as well as meet new people. All walks are friendly, welcoming and suitable for those new to walking, have been inactive for some time, recovering from injury or living with a long term health condition (such as arthritis). They are more of an amble rather than a ramble! The walking routes are between 30 and 45 minutes and trained Walk Leader provide encouragement, support and makes sure no one gets left behind. Wakefield District Health Walks

Coordinated by the Health Improvement Team within Wakefield Council, Wakefield District Health Walks organise free regular short walks lasting between 20 minutes to 2 hours and are aimed at people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Walking is one of the easiest ways to increase physical activity, get fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle. There is no need pre book, simply turn up (with comfortable shoes and clothing suited to weather conditions) on the day and join in! All walks are led by at least one trained Volunteer Walk Leader providing encouragement and ensuring no one gets left behind. A full list of walks can be viewed or downloaded online and direct contact can be made with the Scheme Coordinator for further details and/or any specific concerns.
