Mental Health Awareness Week Campaign - Arthritis Action

Mental Health Awareness Week Campaign

14 May 2018

Arthritis Action is actively supporting a week-long campaign this May, leading with the theme of ‘Stress: are we coping?’ by the Mental Health Foundation.

The campaign runs from 14 to 20th of May and seeks to highlight the impact of stress, as well as explore the connection between stress and mental ill health.

The Mental Health Foundation, organiser of Mental Health Awareness Week, says:

“By tackling stress, we can go a long way to tackle mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, and, in some instances, self-harm and suicide. We will look at how we can tackle stress and help improve our mental health.”

Arthritis Action is proud to be promoting the messages of the campaign. Consistent with our self-management approach, we believe that tackling anxiety can help people cope better with the long-term nature of the symptoms of arthritis. Our Members can find support in our regular Group meetings, and learn tools for managing stress, such as mindfulness and breathing exercises, at our Self-Management Events around the country.
